Conferencing a call

Multi-button phone users:

  1. With a call on the line, press Trans/Conf.
  2. Dial second party's extension number (internal or external).
  3. Press Trans/Conf to bring all parties together.

Single-line phone users:

  1. With a call on the line, press the FLASH button or flash the hookswitch.
  2. Dial second party's extension number (internal or external).
  3. When party answers, press FLASH or flash the hookswitch again, then dial *4.

Forwarding your telephone

  1. Get dial tone.
  2. Dial *8.
  3. Dial the internal extension number to which to forward.
  4. Hang up.

(Multi-button users may press the Forwarding button instead of dialing *8.

Un-forwarding your telephone:

  1. Get dial tone.
  2. Dial *8.
  3. Hang up.

"I am here" -- Forwarding your telephone from a different extension:

(For example, you are working elsewhere on campus and want to forward your extension to your present location).

  1. Get dial tone.
  2. Dial **8 followed by your extension number.
  3. Hang up.

Un-forwarding "I am here" forwarding:

  1. Get dial tone at your telephone.
  2. Dial *8.
  3. Hang up.

Holding a call

Multi-button phone users:

  1. With a call on the line, press HOLD.
  2. To reconnect with caller press the flashing button.

Single-line phone users:

  1. With a call on the line, press the FLASH button or flash the hookswitch.
  2. Dial *7.
  3. To reconnect with caller dial *1.

Placing a call

To place a local or toll-free outgoing call:

  1. Dial outside access code (9).
  2. Dial number you wish to call.

To place a long-distance outgoing call:

  1. Dial outside access code (9#).
  2. Dial number you wish to call.
  3. Wait for account tone.
  4. Enter your account code.

To place an internal call, dial the four-digit extension number.

Multi-button phone users:

  1. With a call on the line, press Trans/Conf.
  2. Dial destination extension number.
  3. Announce call (if desired).
  4. Hang up to transfer call.

Single-line phone users:

  1. With a call on the line, press FLASH button or flash the hookswitch.
  2. Dial destination extension number.
  3. Announce call (if desired).
  4. Hang up to transfer call.

Voice mail

How to Set Up Voice Mail (Not available from residence halls):

Before accessing the setup menu, determine a personal security code of four to fifteen digits. (Four is preferable, as you must continually dial this number to use the system.) Write out your personal greeting for when you are out of the office and another one for when you are on the phone. From your extension, call 7500. When prompted for a security code, dial 1111. Then follow the prompts to set up your own security code, to record your name for the directory, and to record your greeting for when you are out of the office. After you get a congratulations message for successfully setting these things up, hang up and dial 7500. When prompted, dial in your new personal security code. Then dial 3,1,3,1, and follow the prompts to record your message for when you are on the phone. Then exit the system.

Access Voice Mail from your Extension

  1. Dial 7500.
  2. Enter your personal security code.
  3. Follow the prompts.

Access Voice Mail from Someone Else’s Extension

  1. Dial 7500.
  2. When you hear the basic JBU announcement, dial *.
  3. When prompted, enter your extension number.
  4. When prompted, enter your personal security code.

Access Voice Mail from an Outside Line

    1. Dial 524-7500.
    2. When you hear the basic JBU announcement, dial *.
    3. When prompted, enter your extension number.
    4. When prompted, enter your personal security code.

Configure Voice Mail to send to your JBU Email Account

  1. Dial 7500.
  2. Enter your security code.
  3. Press 8 to choose an option from the "User Options" menu.
  4. Press 2, then 3 to access the Enable or Disable the “Forward Voice Mail to E-mail Feature”
  5. Follow additional prompts.
